Glass Installation by Rachel Maisonneuve

I've been reseaching artists for the 2011 Contemporary Glass Society Conference at the De La Warr Pavilion at Bexhill on Sea.  Great to take time to look at lots of glass artists in different contexts.  We still don't know who we're going to have for the conference, but I've enjoyed my trip around the world of glass.  This is just one that caught my eye: an intriguing installation by Rachel Masionneuve of small glass trapeze forms suspended from the ceiling of the Church of St Maurice in Strasbourg.  Titled "Balancoires de Lumiere" or more prosaically in English, 'Swings of Light', it is inspired, as the artist says, 'by the strange duality of life and death'.  The installation was part of the European Glass Biennale in Strasbourg in 2009.  See more about it on the Rachel Maisonneuve's blog post.
