Festival of Errors

I love the idea reported in wednesday's Guardian of this Festival of Errors to be staged in Paris.  The idea is that children are being taught 'intellecual timourousness'.  They say that that "the French school system is leaving children bereft of creativity, flexibility of thought and – crucially – confidence in their own mental abilities."  Well, it's not just the French I say, but certainly the British too.  Any child who makes mistakes is made to feel that they fall short of what they should achieve.  But most of my creative breakthoughs come from mistakes or mishaps.  Who said 'Fail more, fail better'? Samuel Becket I think.  Quite right.  I think we could all do with a Festival of Errors.
