The Hare with the Amber Eyes by Edmund De Waal

Just finished this book, and recommend it to you.  It's the story of Edmund de Waal's inherited collection of Japanese Netsuke, but it's also a story of a Jewish family in Europe over about two hundred years.  There's something in de Waals potter's sensibility that colours his story with the eyes and touch of an artist.
